Is Zhone Technologies turning into a profitable company? After a series of takeovers of ailing companies, including Gluon, Sorrento, and Tellium, and having burn about $ 500m in borrowed money in few years, Zhone seems finding a way to make money. The solution, highlighted by financial investors, is called Paradyne, its latest acquisition. It may finally mark the first successful acquisition by Zhone and turn the company into a DSL/access powerhouse. Simultaneously, Zhone is cleaning its portfolio and has sold its Arca-DACS and Sechtor 300 products to Verilink, as well as its eLuminant DLC and VISTA Access Sonet ADM products sold to CTDI.
