In 2Q07, US mobile phone sales were estimated to be 33m units, down 17% sequentially, but 2Q is traditionally a slow sales quarter for mobile phone retailers. Sales were worth $2.4bn, up 14%; 62% of the sales were made via carrier stores, and 28% cost less than $50. Vendor ranking is unchanged with Motorola in the driving seat with 32% market share, followed by Samsung with 18%, LG 17%, Nokia is fourth with 10%, and Sanyo has 4%. Many of the most popular handset features became also more common: 70% of handsets sold include Bluetooth; 55% of handsets sold include music player.
