Mobile phone green plan

Nokia is leading a group of mobile manufacturers, network operators, suppliers, recyclers, consumer and environmental organizations (including Motorola, Pa,asonic, Vodafone, Orange, Teliasonera, Intel, Epson, the World Wildlife Federation, the Finnish Environmental Institute, the U.K.'s Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and the European Consumers'Organisation), focusing on improving the environmental performance of mobile phones, and raising consumer awareness and participation in take-back and recycling. The group has agreed upon a series of new initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of mobile phones such as reducing energy consumption, avoiding the use of specific materials of concern, improving the amount of phones collected and recycled.
