Mobile increase work productivity
The mobile industry was more or less aware that mobility increases productivity, but could it provide any figure? The answer is yes, now! A new report commissioned by O2 (UK) revealed that the mobile phone sector was responsible for an increase of about €14bn (or about 1%) in UK GDP in 2004. It is significant. UK companies have understood the message and invest about 42% of in business communications in mobile (€92bn); 1/3 of staff in UK companies have a company mobile phone. Mobile roadwarriors (2/3 are mobile blue-collar workers) account for about 8m or 27% of the total UK workforce. The report, however, reveals that the productivity gain of mobile use is dramatically concentrated amongst only 2m mobile workers with high mobile usage and very frequent business trips.
