DT finished 2004 with 5.8m DSL subscribers, up 45%, in Germany.

 

TDMA subscriber number declined 23% in 2004 according to The Diffusion Group.

 

Vonage exceeds 500,000 lines in service on its network.

 

Japan: DoCoMo added 246k new users in February bringing the total to 48.3m subscribers,

 of which 10.2m are FOMA 3G users. KDDI added 184k new users, raising its total number

 to 19.1m, of which 17.4 m 3G users. Vodafone KK lost 53k users in February, on a total of

 15.1m subscribers, of which 675k are 3G.

 

NTT has 5m broadband internet connections, and Softbank is close with 4.7m.

 

India: teledensity is now near of 9% or 97m mobile and fixed subscribers. The mobile base

 is at 51.4m (+1.7m) and the fixed base is at 45.6m. But in my view those numbers are

misleading as mobile figures include WLL (wireless fixed access) users.

 

Russia: the number of mobile users rose by 3.4m to 81.7m in February.

 

Spain: DSL connections increased by 100k in February to 2.8m, of which 1.9m for

Telefonica.

 

Swisscom has 802k DSL lines.

 

Argentina has 13.8m mobile subscribers or 36% population penetration. Telecom Personal

(Telecom Argentina) has about 3.8m subs., CTI Movil (America Movil) has about 3.6m subs.,

and Telefonica (Unifon and ex-Bellsouth entities) has 5.5m.

 

MobiFone (VMS Vietnam) has currently 2.4m users.
