Telenor currently has 143m mobile subscribers worldwide, making it the world's seventh largest mobile phone provider.
Brazil: the mobile subscriber base was 123m at the end of January.
MTS (Russia) has a subscriber base of 83m mobile users, of which 58.3m in Russia.
China Mobile reports record monthly customer gain with over 7m new additions. China Mobile has now 376.4m mobile users.
China Unicom added (only) 1.42m new users in January.
China Telecom lost 1.2m fixed line users in January.
Vodacom (S. Africa) announced a 40% market share in Mozambique mobile market, with 1.5m users.
India: 179m (+3.8%) GSM users in January, but growth is slowing. 6.6m new customers were added, of which 2.25m from Bharti, 1.3m from Vodafone Essar.
Tunisia: 7.8m mobile users and a penetration rate of 78%.
Ecuador: 9.5m mobile customers at the end of 2007, of which 6.9m for Porta and 2.6m for Movistar.
Pakistan reports 78.8m mobile customers at the end of January, up 17% yoy. Mobilink dominates the market with 30.9m users, followed by Ufone with 16.5m and Telenor Pakistan with 15.5m.
Egypt ended 2007 with 30m (+66%) mobile customers. Mobile penetration is about 41%.
