Mobile operator strategies - 31/8/05

Orange believes in mobile video. It recently gave information on its Orange Intense service: 50 TV programs, free access during the week-ends for one year, free multimedia pass for one mobile TV hour per month (beyond, World Intense pre-paid packages from € 10 to €30 for up to 73 hours), more than 2,000 videos to be accessed through Orange World Vidéo.

Digital Telecom, Smart Com. and Globe Telecoms, all three in Philippines, will receive a 3G license from Philippines' National Telecommunication Commission (NTC) under some financial conditions in addition to a minimal fee of $7.1m. New licensed service providers may also obtain a 3G frequency for $6.8m.

Malta telecoms regulator, the MCA has awarded 3G radio spectrum to the two incumbent GSM operators, Vodafone and Go Mobile.

Telus Mobility (Canada) has launched a mobile TV service.
