Chinese rumors again

According to UBS, it is not urgent for China to grant 3G licenses and to reorganize the mobile industry. China Mobile is building TD-SCDMA trial networks in the cities where the 2008 Olympic Games are going to be held in, and it is the most critical path. 3G licenses and reorganization should be delayed to 2009. China, however, has approved the reorganization scheme of telecom industry. Rumors re-surfaced that China Unicom could be split, with China Telecom buying its CDMA southern operations, while China Netcom buying its CDMA northern operations. Another source said that China is likely to rebuild irregular WCDMA networks into TD-SCDMA networks.
