Near Field Communications in EU

The EU Commission will fund a new pan-European consortium (made of companies, universities and user groups) to develop an open architecture for the development, deployment and use of Near Field Communications or NFC-enabled applications in mobile handsets. Open commercial and technical frameworks have to be defined for wide-range use of NFC-enabled services, regardless of the phone type and the nature of the services required.
