Lucent is expanding MetroPCS 1x network in Florida (USA).

 

RIM lands AOL and Yahoo instant messaging deals, and will provide Balckberry devices with adequate software.  

 

Ericsson announced a circa $200m contract with Lockheed Martin /GD/ US Navy for a WCDMA network. The network will be the ground segment of a large satellite network called MUOS. Ericsson also will supply a new 3G deal with Svenska UMTS-Naet, a JV between Tele2 and Teliasonera. Ericsson also announced a $48m contract with ETC (Ethiopia) to provide GSM Expander solution.

 

Nortel will help Verizon Wireless to adapt its network capabilities; it will supply its CDMA2000 1x EV-DO Revision A technology, known as DO-Rev A. Nortel will deploy a 3G core data network for sparq (Taiwan). It also will supply an EDGE network to Orange Slovensko (Slovakia) and has been selected by Qinghai-Tibet Railway (China) for delivering a GSM-R network. In addition, Nortel will deliver CDMA2000 1xEV-DO equipment to Telstra.

 

Motorola will supply its multimedia messaging service center, MMSC to Verizon Wireless. It will also provide its RAN system to KDDI (Japan) for its CDMA2000 1x network under a deal worth $150m. Motorola received an order for a fully integrated CDMA network and softswitch for Honduran operator Comunitel.

 

Siemens announced a deal with T-Mobile Croatia to be the sole supplier for the carrier's 3G network. It will also expand MegaFon (Russia) GSM network under a $268m deal.
