Worldwide PC sales
IDC and Gartner forecast strong increase in yearly PC sales. 3Q05 PC shipments grew 17% to 52m units, mainly driven by the success of laptops and price cuts.
World ranking is:
1 Dell: 18%;
2 HP: 16%;
3 Lenovo (IBM): 7,7%;
4 Acer: 4,7%
5 Fujitsu/Siemens: 3,8%
The quarter is also marked by the Apple comeback. In the US, Apple shipped 744k computers (up 45%), and gained 4.2% market share (5th position).
