Tekelec could announce in coming days plans to sell its switching business to Ericsson. Tekelec tried to enter the data switching market in the early 2000s with acquisitions of Taqua, Santera and Vocaldata, but did not succedd to take off. Tekelec had a reseller agreement with Alcatel, but the perenity of the deal is questionable after the Alcatel – Lucent merger and Riverstone switches in the wedding cup.
