Alcatel will resell Aruba WLAN products. After Cisco took over Airspace, Alcatel, but also Nortel, has to find another neutral source for WLAN gear.

Nortel turned almost simultaneously to Trapeze Networks to find WLAN products, but will continue to sell its WLAN 2200 gear developed with Airspace.

Alcatel will buy optical components from Avanex.

Transmode and Lumentis merge. The combined company will continue to be called Transmode.

Tandberg Data has taken over InoStor Corp. (Norway) in order to become more present in the tape and disk storage markets.
