Fixed networks:

Nortel is teaming with IBM on converged multimedia (IMS) services.

Mobile networks:

Nokia launched the intelligent Gateway Mobile Location Center 4.0, a new cost-efficient platform for location-based services. It is now changing its phone strategy and plans to increase efforts on handset customization. 

 

Alcatel has inked an OEM deal with ZTE to add ZTE’s CDMA portfolio to its Evolium range of products. It also makes a deal with OZ (Canada) for mobile instant messaging (IM) client.

 

Motorola announced the first i-mode handset for Europe.

 

Microsoft teams with Flextronics to market a new range of smartphones.
