Broadband over Powerline

Broadband over Powerline (BPL): the technology, we already described in this newsletter, receives some strong endorsements from heavyweights such as Intel, Motorola and Cisco. All three signed on as new sponsor members of the "HomePlug Powerline Alliance," which develops standards and specifications for businesses and service providers offering broadband over power line, or BPL, service into the home. The involvement of big telecom players in helping develop the technology could be the signal it is finally coming of age.
