Mobile vendor orders
LaqTel (Trinidad and Tobago) has signed with Nortel a $50m order for a 3G CDMA2000 1X EV-DO network. Hutchison Telecom Vietnam has selected Nortel to supply infrastructure for a CDMA 2000 1X and CDMA 2000 1X EV-DO network. Movicel (Angola) has ordered network capacity expansion from Nortel.
Ericsson won a $62m order from Chinese operator Guangxi MCC (China Mobile) for GSM network expansion. Digicel (Trinidad and Tobago) ordered a GSM wireless network from Ericsson. It is supplying its Ericsson Mobile Organizer (EMO) solution to Idea Cellular (India). It has signed a 7-year managed services contract with BASE, the KPN GSM operator in Belgium.
UTStarcom has delivered 250,000 CDMA handsets to China Unicom. It will also support Unicom expansion in Macao wit the supply of an IP node platform.
Motorola has received $ 30m worth contracts from MTC (Kuwait) for boosting capacity on its GSM network and enabling the expansion of GPRS services. Motorola will also supply Push-to-Talk (PTT/PoC) to Optimus in Portugal. It got another order from Maxis (Malaysia) for its Network Optimization Service for Maxis' 2.5G mobile network. It will supply a $50m worth mobile contract to Pakistan Mobile Communications.
Spice Nepal asked Siemens to supply a nationwide GSM network (1m subscriber capacity). Siemens is testing High Speed Downlink Packet Access for Telkomsel, Indonesia. It was selected by 3 Ireland to provide the radio network part of its 3G new network.
ZTE will supply Mundo Startel in Angola with its first NGN based on an IP platform with cdma2000 1x and EV-DO technology.
Alcatel will double the existing GSM mobile network for Vala900, a division of Telecom of Kosovo. Celcom (Malaysia) has ordered the expansion and upgrade of its GSM network under a multi-million dollar contract. It has been awarded a new mobile network expansion contract by Coscom, a mobile operator in Uzbekistan.
Nokia has received an order for GSM core network equipment from VinaPhone (Vietnam Telecom Services Company GPC) in Vietnam. It received a W-CDMA backbone network and network management contract from 3 Ireland. T-Mobile International is upgrading its 3G networks in Germany, the Netherlands and the UK with Nokia's HSDPA solution. GrameenPhone Ltd., Bangladesh's leading mobile operator, has chosen Nokia to deploy its core network solutions for charging and messaging.
Huawei will provide its 2G/ 3G mobile solution to Wataniya Telecom Maldives, and expand BelCel (Belarus) mobile network.
Portal Software has received an order from Telefonica Moviles Mexico for a rating system for its GSM-CDMA based roaming services.
