In 2Q05, Verizon Wireless added 1.9m new subscribers and reached 47.5m users.
Vodafone added 4.1m new customers to push its customer base past 165m.Vodafone Germany announced its 530,000th 3G customer in June.
The Argentine mobile subscriber base reached 17.5m users in June (+82%), of which 6.7m for Movistar Argentina, 5.4m for Telecom Argentina, 4.9m for CTI Movil, and 0.4m for Nextel Argentina.
Uzbekistan reported 750k mobile users in July, a growth of 88% yoy, and 780k Internet users (+37% yoy), while main lines increased 1% to 1.77m.
Telefonica Moviles Mexico purged 300k inactive prepaid customers in 2Q05 and had 5.9m clients in June.
France: 45.4m mobile users and mobile penetration rose to 75% in June. FT Orange had 47.3% market share, SFR Vivendi had 35.8% and Bouygues Telecom had 16.9%.
Russia: the country passed 100m mobile users mark in July. MTS is the leader with about 48m, Vimpelcom follows with 36.8m, then Megafon with 19.2m, Uralsvyazinform with 2.9m, SMARTS with 2.4m, Tele2 with 1.75m and Sibirtelecom with 1.5m.
Spain reached 4.3m broadband customers in H1.
BelCel (Belarus) had 100k mobile users in May 05.
Nigeria reported a telecom customer base (all networks combined) of 14.4m at the end of June.
Brazil said it reached 76.6m mobile users in July. ViVo is the market leader with 37.3%, followed by TIM Brazil with 22.4% and Claro (America Movil) with 21.5%.
In the US, TeleGeography research group found 2.7m VoIP subscribers nationwide in 2Q05.
Portugal: some 10.6m mobile users currently with a mobile penetration of 101%.
China: China is the largest mobile market by subscribers with 363m users. China Mobile reported an increase of 3.6m new users in July to 60.7m contract subscribers and 166.6 million prepaid users. China Unicom added 1.26m new users to 90.5m GSM users and 31.3m CDMA users.
China's Internet users top 130m in June, becoming the world's second largest user base behind the US. The broadband user base grew 23.8% to 53m.
