A few set of market information released this week:

  • Strategy Analytics forecasts that there would be 500m mobile broadband subscribers by 2010, but that new alternative technologies (WiMAX, TDD, ..;) will only contribute just 6%. HSPA and ED-VO RevA. will constitute the bulk of the market.

  • According to Dittberner, 3Q06 FTTH shipments were up 58% yoy and down 1% qoq. Japan accounted for 81% of the market.

  • Dell'Oro reports that the 3Q06 service provider router market grew 30% to $1.5bn. Edge routers account for 2/3 of the total market. Cisco leads the market with 55%market share, followed by Juniper Networks, Alcatel, and Redback Networks.

  • According to Ericsson, mobile TV will reach the global masses in 2008. About one third of the world's mobile phone users will regularly be watching TV broadcasts on their handsets in two years.

  • Motorola assesses mobile penetration in LATAM would reach 75% within three years.

  • According to Pyramid Research, the LATAM telecom sector would increase in revenues at a CAGR of 5% until 2010.
