SK Telecom reported 1Q06 net income of $355m, down 8%, on revenues of $2.7bn, up 5%.

CANTV (Venezuela) posts 1Q05 profit pf $74m (down 37%) and revenues of $576m, up 32%. EBITDA fell 2% to $172m.

Iusacell (Mexico) announced a net loss of $44m in 1Q06 (down from $34m) on revenues of $164m, up 32%.

Chunghwa Telecom (Taiwan) reports 1Q06 revenues of $1.4bn (+1%) and profit of $287m (down 23%). Revenues were coming 34% from fixed lines, 39% from mobile and 25% from Internet and data services. EBITDA fell 9% to $692m.

Verizon reported a profit of $1.6bn, down 12%, on revenues of $22.7bn, up 3% proforma. Verizon Wireless accounted for $8.8bn in sales.

Qwest said its 1Q06 earnings were $88m, up 54%, on revenues of $3.5bn, up 1%. Operating income grew 41% to $86m. Wireline services revenues accounted for $3.3bn(+0.5%), of which $1.5bn in local voice (-4%), 0.6bn in long distance (+2%), $1.1bn in data and internet (+8%) . Wireless revenues amounted to $139m (+10%).

Time Warner Telecom reports 1Q06 net loss of $22m, narrowing from a loss of $35m, on sales of $186m, up 8.5%.

Reliance (India) reports 1Q06 net profit rose 30% to $90m, on revenues of $661m, down 11%. Mobile services accounted for 71% of total revenues.

Tele2 announced 1Q06 net profit of $36m, down 45%, on sales rising 16% to $1.85bn.
