China: mobile phone sales increased 8% to 90m units, while export sales jumped 40% to 140m units, in Jan.-Oct. period. Chinese mobile phone producers seized a market share of 43% in the period (up from 38% in July).

New research by the USA' s Consumer Electronics Association reveals a shift away from landlines to mobile phones for many American consumers. 17% of new mobile phone owners have no landline. Similar study in France reveals 12% of French drop landline for mobile. Another study from Research and Markets, found that about 10% of U.S. mobile subscribers already use a wireless phone as their primary phone.

- Ovum-RHK announced that the Broadband Access Equipment market is predicted to continue growing at 7% CAGR through 2010, from $13,7bn in 2006. Network equipment accounts for 53% and customer premises equipment for 47%. DSL maintains a leading share of network equipment (70% in 2006). The market is driven by almost 20% annual growth in broadband subscribers through 2010. Western Europe remains the largest regional market, but China-India will become the second largest regional market by 2010.
