China had 508.5m mobile subs. End-July, in addition to 372.8m fixed-line users.
The number of IPTV subscribers in China surged 20% in2Q07, reaching 736k, on track to top a million by the end of the year.
China Telecom reached 224m fixed subscribers as of end-June, up by 0.7% from end-2006; while its broadband subscriber base rose to 32.2m, up 14%.
Turkey remained the biggest mobile market in the Middle East and Africa, with 55.5m mobile users at end-2Q07. Penetration rate is at 78%.
Saudi Arabia had the second-largest mobile market in the Middle East at end-June with 24m subscribers, up 41%.
There were 10.4m mobile subscriptions in Iraq at end-2Q07.
Afghanistan reported 2.3m mobile subscriptions at end-2Q07, up 73%, and a penetration rate of 7%.
3 Australia announced it had 1.4m (+35%) 3G subscribers in June 2007.
Vimpelcom (Russia) said it had 59m (+16%) mobile subscribers at end-June.
MTN (S. Africa) reported over 48m mobile subscribers in Middle East and Africa at end-June.
