Operator results - 01/09/07

China Telecom reported a 5% drop in 1H07 profit to €1.3bn, on revenues of €8.6bn, up 1.5%. EBITDA was up less than 1% to €4.3bn. Voice ARPU decreased 11%, hit by continuous decline in mobile tariffs.

Chunghwa Telecom (Taiwan) announced 1H07 revenues are up 5.5% to $2.9bn (of which 32% from fixed line, 38% from mobile and 25% from internet and data) and net income rose 34% to $0.8bn. EBITDA increased 6% to $1.5bn.

Vimpelcom (Russia) reported a 2Q07 net profit of $359m, up 84%, on revenues of $1.7bn, up 53%.OIBDA rose 59% to $897m.

OTE (Greece) said its 2Q07 net profit amounted to €137m (+22%), on revenues of €1.5bn, up 8%, and EBITDA of €544m (+5%).

MTN (S. Africa) posted 1H07 revenues of $4.7bn, up 69%, and net profit of $740m, up 17%. MTN operates in 21 countries in MEA.
