Avaya should be for sale. Nortel, Cisco and an equity fund (Silver Lake Partners) are said in talks with the company. Without debt, and generating high cash-flow and profit, Avaya is an interesting prey, and there is plenty of appetite in the industry for a takeover . Its stock is worth about $7bn. Avaya share went up 15%.

Motorola will not develop any new generation Wi-Fi equipments before final certification of 802.11n standard, expected for late-2009.

UTStarcom will reuse Optibase encoding platforms in its IPTV offers.

Tellabs has introduced a new multiservice access platform (MSAP), tellabs 1134, for FTTx networks.

Occam has launched its first 10-Gigabit Ethernet access aggregation broadband loop carrier, BLC 6450, aimed at providing IPTV distribution.
