Subscriber figures - 15/04/07

Russia has passed the 155m mobile subscriber base mark in March 07.

India added 6.1m new mobile users in March 07. The total number of GSM subscribers had reached 121.4m at the end of March, up 5% qoq. Bharti Airtel added 1.7m new subscribers to bring its total to 37.1m. BSNL added 2m new mobile users, taking its subscriber base to 27.4m, and Hutchison Essar added 1.1m to a total of 26.4m.

At the end of 2006, there were 815m GSM users in APAC (+30%), 49m WCDMA users (up 97%) and 151m CDMA customers (+28%). Outside Japan, there were 950m mobile users, of which 10m WCDMA customers and 16m true 3G CDMA users.
