A few set of market information released this week:

  • According to a telecom expense management specialist (Aurora Kendrick James), UK companies are wasting some €1.5bn (or 20%) simply not controlling the cost of communications (around €7.5bn). 75% of UK firms do not have a corporate telecoms policy to measure, manage and control usage.

  • According to MII in China, China would have 200m internet users by 2010.

  • According to XiTi Monitor, Firefox is used by 25% of European internet users.

  • The EU Parliament' s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee has approved the regulation on mobile roaming rates, including price capping for roaming charges.

  • According to Anatel (Brazil), GSM technology accounts for 65% of Brazil' s mobile telephony subscriber base, followed by CDMA with 25% and TDMA with 10%.

  • According to Heavy Reading, the Metro WDM market is poised to grow from $1.6bn globally in 2006 to $2.6bn in 2010.
