GlobeTel has acquired the assets of HotZone Wireless, a WiMAX developer.

JDS Uniphase bought privately held Photonic Power Systems, a pioneer provider of photonic power.

Ericsson said it has acquired the Spanish software company NetSpira Networks, a wireless content billing supplier.

Cisco announced a new organization with four geographic areas: US and Canada, Europe, Asia Pacific and Japan, and Emerging Markets, instead of former five zones (U.S., Americas International, EMEA, Asia Pacific and Japan).

Oracle bought TimesTen.

Alcatel and Cisco are joining the successor to the Infranet effort, begun by Juniper Networks, to create building blocks for the future very high-speed internet network.

Lucent and CapGemini announced a strategic alliance combining Lucent's full suite of network integration services, professional and managed services, and Capgemini's expertise in transformational consulting, technology solutions and managed services.

IBM and Motorola have signed an agreement. IBM will offer Motorola NetPlane(TM) Core Services software as a key middleware component of the IBM eServer Integrated Platform for Telecom.

Motorola announced that it is adopting Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (AdvancedTCA) hardware and open software standards.
