Operator results - 25/08/06

Orascom (Egypt) announced a 36% 1H06 revenue increase to $2bn, a 41% increase in EBITDA to $895m, and a net income at $327m.

Telekom Austria reports 2Q06 net profit of €131m, up 74%, an EBIT rising 52% to €192m.

China Netcom posts 1H06 net profit falling 8% to $886m, on revenues of $5.4bn (+1%).

Hutchison Whampoa reported 1H06 net profit of $2.4bn (+100%) on revenues of $10.8bn (+2%). Hutchison's 3G operations posted a loss of $1.5bn (narrowing from a year ago). Hutchison forecasts 3G operations should become EBITDA positive in 1H07 and breakeven in 2008.

China Unicom announced 1H06 profit growing 19% to $350m, on revenues of $5.85, up 8%. EBITDA rose 11% to $1.9bn. 1H06 capx was $1.1bn, 39% of the annual forecast capex.

Maxis (Malaysia) posts 1H06 net profit of $261m, up 16%, an EBITDA of $512m, up 6%, on revenues climbing 16% to $984m.
