Optical networking market

Ovum-RHK and Dell'Oro unveiled their respective most recent assessment of the optical networking market. According to Ovum-RHK, the 2Q06 market grew 11% yoy to $3bn and 18% qoq. NA is the first regional market, topping $1bn, mainly driven by metro and backbone WDM growth. Top seven vendors are Huawei (+54%), Siemens (+46%), Nortel (+7%), Alcatel (-5%), Fujitsu's, Lucent's, and Tellabs (all flat). Alcatel led the market with a 15% market share.

According to Dell'Oro, the optical transport equipment market would reach almost $10bn from 2008 to 2010.
