ð                   Japan is leading Internet telephony with 80% of VOIP users. This information excludes PC-to-PC voice services and software such as Skype.

 

ð                   According to EITO, Western European consumer online content market could reach €3bn in 2005 and €16bn in 2008. Fast growth is mainly driven by broadband access, both wireline and mobile. On-line gaming should reach €930m in 2005. Online content today is delivered via PC (9O% market share), TV and mobile phone (forecast to gain a 40% market share by 2008).

 

ð                   Strategy Analytics reported global mobile handset market breakdown:  Nokia holds a 31% market share, Motorola 17%, Samsung 14%, LG 6.5%, Sony Ericsson 5.5%, Siemens 5.4%. There were 172m units shipped in the quarter, an increase of 9.5%. Strategy Analytics expects 8% growth in global mobile handset shipments during 2005 to 735m units.

  •             According to In-Stat, FTTP is growing, but would be yet small by 2009. In the US, there are some 1.9m premises passed in 2004, and it would grow to 11.8m in 2009, accounting for only 10% of US households. Verizon currently accounts for 50% all sites passed by FTTP.
