3.5G success
According to Informa Telecoms & Media, 3.5G is poised to be a big success. The number of subscribers should grow to 200m in 2010, from 2.5m at the end of 2006. HSDPA should account for 65% of 3.5G subscribers, followed by HSUPA, EV-DO Revision A (EV-DOrA) and EV-DO Revision B (EV-DOrB). Geographically, Informa believes that WE and APAC should be the top two regions through 2011, followed by NA. GSMA has announced that 100 HSDPA networks are either in deployment or have been commercially launched in 49 countries, and that more than 39 HSDPA devices are available in the market. CDMA 2000 1x-EV-DO rev A is deployed in five major operators – Sprint Nextel, Verizon Wireless, KDDI in Japan, LG Telecom in South Korea and Telecom New Zealand, plus several smaller operators worldwide.
