S. Korea's IT 839 plan (update)

IT 839 is S. Korea' s strategic growth plan to almost double its GNP and catch up with most advanced countries. The target is to reach a GNP per capita of $30k (from current $17k). Magic numbers of this plan are:

• 8 services: HSDPA, WiBro, Broadband Convergence Service, DMB/DTV, u-Home Service (u for ubiquitous), telematics/location based service, RFID tagging, IT service ;

• 3 network infrastructures : Broadband Convergence Network with IPv6, u-Sensor Network, and Soft Infraware;

• 9 growth engines: Mobile Communications/Telematics Devices, Broadband/Home Network Devices, Digital TV/Broadcasting Services, Next Generation Computing/Peripoheral Devices, Intelligence Service Robot, RFID/u-Sensor Network Devices, IT System on Chip/Convergent Components, Embedded Software, Digital Contents/Software Solution
