According to Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA), the number of GSM subscriptions worldwide would surpass 2bn in June 2006. That means that one billion subscribers were enlisted in about 30 months, while the first billion customers was reached in 12 years. GSM accounts for 81% of the worldwide mobile market. On the 2bn subscribers, the top 4 countries are China with 370m, Russia with 145m, India with 83m and USA with 78m.
