Subscriber figures - 10/05/06

Kuwait' s Wataniya reports 7.1m subscribers (+119%) in the 6 countries where it operates as of March 2006. It has 947k subscribers in Kuwait, and 6.2m in Tunisia, Iraq, Algeria, Saudi Arabia and the Maldives.

Africa passed the bar of 150m+ mobile subscribers in April.

Russia: mobile subscriber base grew to 132m as of March, up 184%.

Globe Telecom (Philippines) had 12.4m mobile subscribers at the end of 2005.

Comcel (Colombia) had a mobile subscriber base of 15.8m.

Argentina is believed to have 24m mobile subscribers (+58%) as of March.

T-Online said it added 502k new ADSL subscribers bringing its subscriber base to 5.6m at the end of 2005. T-Online has about 14.3m subscribers in total.

BASE (Belgium) had 2m mobile subscriber at the end of March.

India is close to break the 100m subscriber line, passing Japan and on the heels of Russia.
