Juniper, Siemens and the others

Publié le par Arnal

Juniper is back on the forefront , but not the same way as years ago when it was a rising star. Now clouds are gathering above its head. Some weeks ago, Juniper was given as a potential takeover target for Ericsson, one of its main customers. Lucent, another OEM partner and 10% of its revenues, should end up their partnership, when merged with Alcatel. Siemens, a third and big OEM customer (ca. 10% of its revenues), has indicated that with its new distributed IPTV concept, it will use routers and switches (from their own) rather than a B-RAS system (from Juniper). How much all these hiccups will affect Juniper is premature to say. But this reveals, at least, that Juniper needs to do strong marketing efforts and probably also to add new products in its portfolio (such as Ethernet).
