Alert! RFID can spread virus

As RFID is replacing barcode, the threat of virus spreading is real and increasing. An RFID chip is wirelessly read through a scanning gate. So if the chip is infected by a virus, the scan can upset the database that processes the information on the chip, modify back-end software and spread to other RFID tags. The demonstration was recently made at the Amsterdam's Free University. The threat is also of course for databases used by supermarkets.
