Vodafone Strategy
Vodafone Strategy
Many concerns were raised on Vodafone current strategy, as the company has successively met financial woes with activity slowdown, shareholders pressure on assets disposal and write-down, departure of its historic life president Gent, departure of its CMO Peter Bamford, of its deputy chief executive Julian Horn-Smith and chairman Ian MacLaurin. Shareholders were increasingly demanding that the company divest from Japan and the US and return money to shareholders. For Japan, it is done with the sale of Vodafone KK to Softbank for $14bn. But the landscape is darkened by a potential hostile bid of about €150bn on Vodafone by a group of equity investors. Furthermore, Vodafone strategy to diversify into emerging markets, where significant room for growth exists, is slow to emerge.
All that means that the Vodafone blazing company has strong challenges to face with, that the fortress may have been breached and that the company is viewed as a potential pray.
