A few set of market information released this week:

[            A new survey from Quantum-Web assessed that the number of broadband users reached 145m at the end of 2004. APAC is the largest market with 58m and Americas has 45m (of which 35m in the US).

[            According to Analysys, VOIP could threaten mobile operator’s strategies.

[            Maravedis forecasts that the WiMAX market will reach more than $2 bn by the end of 2009, from $560m in 2004.

[            According to Multimedia Research Group, the IPTV market could reach 25m subscribers by 2008, from 1.9m in 2004. Service revenues could grow to $ 7.2bn in 2008, from $630m in 2004.

[            According to Juniper Research, mobile gambling would be worth $2bn in 2006, and grow to $19bn by 2009.

[            Dittberner said that carrier VOIP equipment market (media gateways and softswitch) was worth about $1.2bn in 2004. Huawei is the market leader in ports volume with about 25% market share.
