KPN has selected Huawei as the key 3G UMTS core network provider.

Lucent announced contracts with Taiwan Mobile for optical networking platform; with Sky Link (Russia) for a CDMA 450 EV-DO network.

Nokia provides T-Mobile with HSDPA systems in Germany, England and the Netherlands, and won a $190m 3G order from du, a new mobile operator in UAE. Nokia also will upgrade Thailand's DTAC network.

Opera Software won T-Mobile order for mobile browser; its share soared 8% following the announcement.
