A few set of market information released this week:

  • According to Insight, the US managed services market will grow at a CAGR of 22% to $94bn in 2011.

  • According to Dittberner, the overall market for public network switches and routers increased by 20% in 2005, to reach $7.3bn. The multiservice switch market fell 5% to $2bn, while the core router market grew by 16% to about $2.3bn and the edge router market by 55% to $3bn.

  • ABI Research found that smart phones accounted for 15% share of the mobile phone market, with 123m units to be sold in 2006 (up 100%).

  • Gartner announced that mobile phone sales in 2005 reached 817m units , up 21%. Nokia had a 32,5% market share. The six largest handset makers combined increased their market share in 4Q05 to 84%, up from 81% in 2004.

  • IDC forecasts that the managed services market in APAC should grow from $5.7bn last year to $6.5bn this year.

  • According to Research & Markets, the population of notebook PCs in Europe is expected to grow to 118m units in 2009.

  • The CDMA Development Group (CDG) reported that 3G CDMA2000 accounted for nearly 100% of CDMA handsets sold in 2005, of which 27m 1xEV-DO handsets representing 17% of the total. In 2006, 1xEV-DO handsets sales should grow to 55m units, or 30% of total CDMA handsets sales.

  • Analysys estimates that China's total 3G mobile subscribers will exceed 10m in 2006 and will reach 100m in 2011 (or 13% of the total mobile subscriber base).

  • US VOIP subscribers tripled to 4.2m in 2005, according to TIA.
