Consolidation in Brazil
Five Brazilian mobile operators will merge into a single company called Vivo bearing the brand name they have used together for several years. Telesp Celular, (TCP), Tele Centro Oeste Celular (TCO), Tele Sudeste Celular (TSD), Tele Leste Celular and Celular CRT (Celular CRT) will merge in three-step process:

1- TCO is merged into with TCP,

2- TLE, TSD and Celular CRT are merged into TCP,

3- TCP is formally renamed Vivo S.A. (Vivo).

The move may be the prelude to a new transaction between Telefonica Moviles and Portugal Telecom, the two main shareholders of the five Brazilian operators.
