Telefonica reported full-year net income of € 2.9bn (+31%) and revenues of €30.3bn (+6.8%). Free cash flow was € 9.4bn, up 6.4%. 2004 Capex was € 3.77bn. EBITDA rose 5% to € 13.2bn, and operating profit grew 14.3% to € 7.2bn. Net debt stood at about € 21bn. Telefonica has 122m subscribers including Latam BellSouth mobile operators in Chile and Argentina.

 

Terra Networks (Telefonica internet arm) reported sales of € 540m (down 2%), net profit of € 164m and EBITDA of €21m. 2004 was the year of the first ever net profit reported by Terra Networks.

 

Telecom Italia Mobile announced an operating profit of €4.1bn, up 6.7%, on revenues of € 13bn, up 9.5%. Net income is flat at € 2.3bn.

 

Belgacom posted 2004 net profit of €922m, up 436%, on revenues of € 5.5bn, up 1.6%. EBITDA rose 6.4% to € 2.4bn. Cash flow rose to € 1.4bn. Its fixed line division (56% of total revenues) faced intense competition, but limited decline to 0.5%. Mobile arm, Proximus, faced also fierce competition, increased sales 2.6%, ARPU 2%, but lost about 4 points in market share to 50%.

 

BASE (Belgium) announced 2004 revenues of €432m, up 28%, EBITDA of € 119m, up 133%, and ARPU rising 9% to € 24/mo.

 

SmarTone (Hong Kong) announced 1H net profit of €21.5m, down 4%, on revenues of € 175m, up 18%. EBITDA margin declined to 25% from 29%. ARPU rose 4% to € 18.7.

 

DoCoMo issued profit warning and cuts its net profit forecast by 5% to $6.9bn, as it winds up its loss-making PHS service.

 

KPN (NL) reports 2004 revenues down 6.2% to € 12.1bn. Free cash flow was € 2.3bn. 4Q04 revenues were € 3bn, down 2%, and net profit was € 479m, down 70%. 2005 sales would be flat and income would decline. 2005 capex would be around  € 1.7bn. KPN has 17.2m mobile subscribers, of which 9.5m in Germany (+16%). Its E-Plus mobile German arm announced revenues of €2.6bn, up 14%

 

PLDT (Philippines) made a record net profit of $512m in 2004 on revenues of $ 2.3bn (+12.7%). EBITDA was $ 1.28bn and EBITDA margin rose to 61%. Free cash flow rose 65% to $680m. Its Smart and PilTel mobile arms ended 2004 with 19.2m mobile subscribers (+48%) or a market share of 58%.

 

Versatel (NL) reported 2004 revenues of €601m, up 30%, and gross margin of 53%.

Teleglobe posted 4Q04 revenues of $280m, up 30%, EBITDA of $ 11m and net loss of $9.2m (down from $2.1m in 2003).

 

Portugal Telecom reported 2004 revenues of € 6bn, EBITDA of € 2.3bn, net income of € 500m and free cash flow of € 1.54bn. 2004 Capex was € 780m. Net debt was reduced to € 3.1bn.

 

DT announced 4Q04 revenues of €15bn, up 3%, and net profit of € 1.4bn. Full-year revenues were € 58bn, up 3.7%, EBITDA was € 19.4bn, up 6%, and net profit was €4.6bn, up 254%. Net debt at the end of the year was € 35bn, down 25%.

 

T-Mobile USA posted full-year revenues of $11.7bn, up 40%, and OIBDA of $ 2.5bn, up 57%. The division is just at breakeven. 2004 capex was $2.14bn, up 24%. It has 29,400 cell sites and 17.3m mobile customers (up 32%). ARPU is slightly increasing 4% to $ 55.

 

T-Online reported net 2004 revenues of € 2bn (+9.3%), EBITDA at € 472m (+49%), net profit of € 300m, a first ever profit generated by T-Online. ARPU rose 4.7% to € 15.6. T-Online has 3.6m DSL subscribers, of which 3.2m in Germany.
