According to Ovum-RHK, the optical networking equipment sector showed in 3Q05 its largest year-over-year quarterly growth since 2002: +33% to $2,8bn. The overall optical networking market will grow 15% this year surpassing $10bn.
Dell'Oro reports the worldwide optical equipment market grew 2 % qoq in 3Q05 and 31% yoy to $2,1bn.
According to Siemens, first 3G license in China could require the operator to roll out TD-SCDMA technology. TD-SCDMA will be ready for deployment in 1Q06 according to the head of TD-SCDMA Forum.
According to Strategy Analytics, Motorola, LG and Samsung dominate the NA handset market place with a combined 71% market share. Motorola remains the leader with 34% in 3Q05, followed by LG with 20% and Samsung with 17%. Nokia is fourth with 15%.
CIR announced that the market for 10-Gbit/s ports on telecommunications and data communications equipment will grow from $2.1bn in 2006 to $4.8bn by 2010. This will represent growth from 221,000 ports to 1.6m ports shipped over the same period.
