Nortel has been selected by Edge Wireless, a Cingular affiliate, to expand its mobile network in four states across western USA. Nortel will also trial UMTS and HSDPA technologies.

Ericsson will provide Telstra with a 3G UMTS nationwide network, worth about $1bn.
