Subscriber figures - 15/11/05

Bangladesh's GrameenPhone has crossed the 5m subscriber-mark milestone (from 2,4m users at the beginning of the year).

By the end of Sept. 2005, Egypt had 12m mobile and 10.3m fixed line subscribers (teledensity of 14%). While the fixed-line subscriber base is not showing symptoms of stagnation, the mobile usage is exploding (+400%) in 3Q05.

MTS' subscriber base (Russia) was at 54.4m users as of October 31.

Vodacom (S. Africa) said its subscriber base stood at 19.1m at the end of September (+ 42%), of which 15,8m in South Africa (+39%).

Turk Telecom has over 19 million fixed-line subscribers,

O2 increased its mobile customer base to 25,7m, up 17%, as of Sept. 05.
