• According to China-based CCID Consulting, 3Q05 mobile phone sales reached 21m units, with forecast of total shipment in 2005 of 88m units, up 21%. Nokia is the market leader with 19% market share, followed by Motorola with 12% and Samsung Electronics with 10%. Ningbo Bird, with about 8%, is fourth and the first Chinese maker.

• According to Research and Markets, semiconductor optoelectronic components should grow with a CAGR of 20% to $22,3bn by 2008.

• Insight Research predicts that the global mobile OSS market is expected to grow to more than $13bn +$1bn for professional services for OSS installations.
