Lucent results

Lucent' s results: Lucent posted 3Q05 earnings of $374m, down 69%, on revenues of $2.43bn, up 1%. Fiscal year (ended Sept. 30) results were: net income of $1.2bn (down 40%) and revenues of $ 9.44bn (up 4%). Revenues in the US were $5.9bn, while outside revenues were $3.5bn. Mobility revenues were $4.6bn, an increase of 12%, LWS (Worldwide Services) revenues were $2.1bn, up 10%, and INS revenues were $2.6bn, down 11%. Lucent seems relatively satisfied to report its second year of profitability after the telecom turmoil. Another item of satisfaction could be the gross margin improvement to 44% (+2 points) and the increase in operating income to $2.8bn (+10%). Lucent ended its fiscal year with about $5bn in cash and marketable securities.
