Alcatel results

Alcatel' s results: Alcatel said its 3Q05 net income rose 36% to €266m, and its revenues grew 8.8% to €3.3bn. The operating profit fell 25% to € 278m and the target of a yearly operating margin of 10% is out of reach. The new target is at 9%. Gross margin is down almost 4 points to 34.6%. The revenue from the fixed-line business rose 6% to €1.3bn, but the operating profit fell 34% to €121m. The mobile division revenue grew 22% to €1.1bn, but the operating profit fell 3% to €116m. The private enterprise division revenue fell 3% to €928m and its operating income fell 30% to € 64m. 40% of total sales are made in Western Europe, 15% in N.A. and APAC each, and 30% in ROW. Net cash amounted to € 441m.
