Mobile phones to be used as payment machines
Mobile phones to be used as payment machines:
It could be the next big application for mobile devices. The phone is used to pay on line any small purchase in stores, automatic tellers, ticketing machines, and many other devices. The transaction is made contactless and by radio. Several trials are on going in Japan and Europe. In Japan, KDDI and Vodafone KK have teamed with JCB, a Japanese credit card firm, to promote a standard and build an infrastructure to support QuicPay, a contactless payment system for mobile phones. In France, Bouygues Telecom is launching a pilot project with Axalto to purchase travelcards on line from a mobile phone.
