A few set of market information released this week:

[                  According to IDC, the global mobile phone market reached 664m units in 2004, a 29%+ growth in one year. Main drivers were color screens and cameraphones in mature markets (replacement), 3G and Asian markets  (China and India).

[                  According to F&S, NA wireless prepaid services revenues could almost double to $ 8.7bn in 2011, from $ 4.5bn in 2004.

[                  The worldwide DSL market (data from 3Q04), according to Dell’Oro, is still dominated by Alcatel with about 38% market share. Alcatel has delivered some 54m DSL lines, far ahead of its closest competitor.

[                  Dell’Oro has found that the mobile infra market has grown 26% in 2004 to $ 36bn, and could continue to grow to $ 39bn until 2007, then be flat.

[                  According to Strategy Analytics, Europe had about 38m high-speed access connections (+61%) at 2004 year-end. DSL accounts for 81% and Cable for 19%.

[                  EITO (Europe) forecast a 5.9% ICT (Information & Communication technologies) growth in Europe in 2005.

[                  According to an Arab Advisors Group survey, 76% of Jordanian households have a fixed-line and 71% have a mobile line.

[                  According to US TIA, equipment spending in the US rose about 8% in 2004 to $ 784bn.

[                  IDC predicts the worldwide softswitch and media gateway revenues will reach $9.3 bn in 2009, a 47% CAGR from 2004.

[                  The market for electronic and optical switching fabrics will grow from $1 bn in 2005 to $1.6 bn in 2008, according to CIR. Growth should be driven by 10-GigE deployments.

[                  According to Visant Strategies, the cellular backhaul market will nearly double by 2009 to $7bn.

[                  Infonetics reported a 100% increase of worldwide ROADM-enabled equipment revenue in 2005 to $200m.
