2bn mobile users worldwide: The cellular industry will reach a major milestone this week end with 2bn mobile subscribers according to Wireless Intelligence. That means that one in three persons in the world has a mobile phone (penetration of about 31%). The bulk of the growth now is coming from large, developing markets such as China, India, Eastern Europe, Latin America and Africa. Growth, however, will smooth, and if the second billion customers was reach in about 3 years (02-05), the next billion customers should be reached in 2010 (or 5 years) according to OVUM.
